Dubai: Trainer of Well Armed, Eoin Harty, was pleased with his horse getting to start from gate No 2 in the 13-horse field that will contest the $6 million Dubai World Cup on Saturday.

After yesterday's draw, Harty told Gulf News: "I am happy. Can't complain. Ideal draw would have been in the middle. But being inside is better off than being drawn outside."

"Well Armed is in superb shape and we are expecting him to run a big race. Curlin is obviously the horse to beat. But I feel the danger could come from Godolphin's Happy Boy," said the US trainer.

Well Armed's draw position also triggered a change in the odds. William Hills shortened the odds from 40-1 to 33-1.

Another US runner, Great Hunter, drew gate No 5. Though the odds for this 4-year-old colt is 66-1, Leandro Mora, representing trainer Doug O'Neil and owner Paul Reddam, said Great Hunter was a transformed horse since his arrival here. "This horse is totally different from the one that left California. He is way, way, way better off than when he left the US," Mora said.
