Dubai: Trainer James Frazier Jr. feels he has a strong contender for the premier Purebred Arabian race in his five-year-old bay gelding Fryvolous.
"I have had runners earlier in the Kahayla like Al Reef (three attempts) and Agrab Al Nas. But this is the first time I have a contender," said the Champion Arab Trainer of the US in 1989 and runner-up in 1990.
Based in the Al Asayel Stables about 40 kms from the capital city of Abu Dhabi and training Purebred Arabian horses is Frazier feels Fryvolous can be a force to reckon with in the Kahayla Classic (Group 1) on Dubai World Cup day.
Peaking
Fryvolous, who won four races on the trot in the US before coming to the UAE , has had two outings here but Frazier said his runner is just peaking.
"Fryvolous has won Grade 1 races over this distance and he did run a good race when Madjani won the Maktoum Challenge on Super Thursday.
"I feel he is just getting to the right form," said the American.
Madjani, who is bidding to win his fourth Kahayla Classic, was picked by Frazier as the horse to beat.
Pace
"My horse should have his best day and Madjani should have a day off," said Frazier, commenting on his horse's chances.
Ryan Moore will be on the Dormane gelding which races in the colours of President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa Bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
"Fryvolous does not come off the pace so it would be better for him to stay close to the front," said Frazier.
