Dubai: Gerard Butler gives British challenger Baharah "an outside chance" in the Godolphin Mile, sponsored by etisalat, in which he saddled the third in Jack Sullivan two years ago.
"Baharah is by Elusive Quality, and, while some of his progeny can be tricky, I trained one of the best of them in Elusive City, who won the Prix Morny at Deauville in 2002," he told the Dubai Racing Club.
"This fellow would not yet be that class, but he has speed and stamina, he has been training well and, having run only five times, he can only progress further.
"He was second in a Listed race at Kempton last time and will obviously have to improve on that to get in the shake-up. But Jamie [Spencer] was very pleased with him when we galloped him on the Polytrack at Kempton before we left, and whatever his fate here, he ought to win some good races on the turf at home during the summer."
US import Barcola jogged once around the main dirt course under exercise rider Tony Romero who was following instructions from trainer Mark Hennig.
J. Paul Reddam's five-year-old Old Trieste horse has not raced since finishing second by a head to Evening Attire in the Queens County Handicap on December 8 at Aqueduct.
The Queens County was Barcola's 11th start of 2007. Three of his four wins during the year were in stakes at Delaware Park.
Diamond Stripes, ridden by Rudy Rodriguez, followed stablemate Benny the Bull and turned in his own five-furlong workout prior to his appearance in Saturday's Group 2 contest, worth $1million.
Nad Al Sheba's clocker caught the five-year-old gelding's final three furlongs (600 metres) in :35.20 and said that Rodriguez had "plenty in hand".
