Dubai: Premium Tap, once considered a doubtful starter for the Dubai World Cup (Gr 1), is now set to run in the $6million race on March 29.

Julio Gardel, who trains the six-year-old Saudi Arabian champion for King Abdullah Bin Abdul Aziz & Sons confirmed that Premium Tap is a confirmed runner.

"We will be going to Dubai but the date has not been decided," the Argentina said from Riyadh. "We don't have a definite plan but we are still working on it."

Less than three weeks ago Gardel had said that doubts existed over Premium Tap's chances of running in the Dubai World Cup where 12 months ago he had finished 1 3/4 lengths second to Invasor.

"At the moment we are not sure about his running in the World Cup. Unfortunately he's not where we want him to be at this stage. So far the horse is not going, but we would like to leave the door open and see if things change."

Select field

Things have, for the better, and Premium Tap is set to join a select field of 13 runners in the race to win the sport's richest purse.

Gardel declined to comment on the horse's form or the factors that forced the connections to have a change of heart.

"All I can say at this point of time is that we have received an invitation from Dubai which we have accepted," he said.

"Premium Tap is doing alright, I am happy with his condition. He has been doing what he does most days, nothing very special."
