As the city gears up for yet another exciting Dubai World Cup season, BurJuman is hosting a 10-day millinery exhibition — the biggest of its kind in the region, prior to the world's richest horserace.
A stunning collection of couture hats, headpieces and accessories will be on display from March 19 to 29, giving race goers the opportunity to find the perfect accessory to match their outfit.
Seven international milliners will be exhibiting at BurJuman during mall opening hours, offering fashion headwear advice, Displaying their latest collections and creating custom-made headpieces, fascinators and hats using a wide variety of materials.
Marilena Romeo, Serena Lindeman, Louise MacDonald, Sabine Pedder, Philip Wright, Bailey Tomlin and Yuki Saito are all scheduled to showcase their fabulous headwear.
Louise Harrison, a famous accessories designer who specialises in creating sleeves, will also be displaying her work.
'Chic, stylish and trendy'

After winning the best hat award at the Dubai World Cup 2007 Millinery Awards, popular Australian milliner Marilena Romeo is fondly described as the "Mad Hatter" of Australia.
Romeo has experienced an unprecedented level of success since her inauguration into the hat world, utilising the traditional skills of hat design to create a glamorous and theatrically-inspired range. All her pieces are hand-made, bringing authenticity to her creations. Marilena believes that true millinery that "turns heads" shares the same ranks as any clothing haute couture design.
Ffirm favourite
Another renowned Australian milliner is Serena Lindeman, a recipient of the Myer Fashions on the Field 2006 Millinery Award at the Melbourne Cup in 2006. She is a favourite with celebs and is known for using the finest materials available to design a wide range of head wear to suit diverse tastes.
A milliner for 17 years, Louise MacDonald began her career in England making hats for film and television productions. Working in one of London's best costume houses, she has since produced headwear for world-famous actors to complement their movie roles, including Minnie Driver, Tom Cruise and Jerry Hall.
Eccentric
Another designer who will take centre stage will be Bailey Tomlin showcasing her original and eccentric creations. With over 20 years' experience, her collection has been stocked by shops such as Harrods, Selfridges, Saks 5th Avenue, Liberty, Harvey Nichols and Mitsukoshi in Japan.
Bailey's millinery skills, textile training and experience make her work charming, and give her surprising creations the wit and eccentricity you would expect from a British designer.
Her Dubai collection includes botanically-themed hats, head-pieces and bags that take inspiration from nature. Lilies, pea-pods and English strawberries are all firm favourites.
"The Dubai World Cup is undoubtedly the most glamorous event on the city's sports and social calendar. BurJuman's association promises to add further luxury and sparkle to the occasion by providing fashionable race goers with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to enhance their stylish race-day outfit," said Khandwani.

The BurJuman Millinery Exhibition, taking place from March 19 to 29, will be located at the Observatory in BurJuman and is open daily from 10am to 10pm.
