Abu Dhabi: Frankie Dettori feels that Godolphin's Electrocutionist should have a good chance in Saturday's $6 million Dubai World Cup (Group 1) as he is still fresh.

"Though he is a five-year-old, he has run in just nine races and that makes him a horse with fresh legs," the Italian ace told Gulf News yesterday.

"He did well in his first run on dirt, but the class of runners in the World Cup will be very different.

"He did not seem to have any problems with the kickback in the Maktoum Challenge Round Three. And he has been handling the dirt well in training."

Electrocutionist made an impressive dirt debut, earlier this month, when he won the final leg of the three-race Maktoum Challenge without exerting himself.

The ex-Italian horse, who is now trained by Saeed Bin Surour, had scored two Group 1 wins last year in the Juddmonte International Stakes and the Gran Premio Di Milano.

Asked if it would be a special occasion to ride an ex-Italian horse, Dettori said: "No, not because he is an ex-Italian horse but because he is a good horse."

When asked what draw he would prefer for the Dubai World Cup, Dettori said: "Anything in the middle or high. In any case, that is not in my hands."

Dettori also felt the US and Japanese runners were to be highly respected. "There are some very good runners and those are the ones to watch," he said.

Dettori, who was in Abu Dhabi to promote his range of men's grooming products, said he would like to ride in the capital. "I have seen so much of racing held here. I would love to ride here," he said. Commenting on his experience with Purebred Arabians, Dettori said he had only ridden them twice. "The first time I was disqualified and the second time I finished way back," he said.

Jockey launches new fragrance

Frankie Dettori launched his new fragrance, 'Dettori', at the Abu Dhabi Duty Free yesterday.

Commenting on the fragrance which carries his name, the stylish Italian said it was a perfume which he felt was very sporty and had a universal appeal. "Right now, we are looking at how the grooming products fare. We have a lot of plans and belts, wallets etc will follow," said Dettori.

"My wife Catherine had a major role to play in these products. Men have become better groomed now. It has become more fashionable for them to look and smell good," he said.

The 'Dettori' range includes an eau de toilette, shower gel, deodorant spray, anti-perspirant and hair styling gel.
