Allison and Elise start their journey by driving their fully loaded Mini from Mirdif in Dubai to Sharjah, where they will board the Sharjah/Bandar Abbas ferry. The ferry leaves twice a week, with the journey lasting around eight hours. They set sail at 10pm on Sunday, June 25.

The girls will arrive at 4am on Monday, where they will drive from Bandar Abbas, one of the most densely populated areas of Iran, to Yazd. From there, they will drive to the Iranian capital of Tehran.

With a population of over 7 million, Tehran is a sprawling, bustling city, situated at the foot of the Alborz mountain range. The city has a number of large museums, palace complexes and art centers, as well as numerous mosques and several churches and synagogues.

From Tehran, the girls will set off on a 650km trek north west to Tabriz, the capital of East Azarbaijan Province. Tabriz is the main cultural centre of Iranian Azarbaijan and has a population of 1.2million. The origins of the city are shrouded in mystery, with some historians suggesting that the Biblical Garden of Eden was situated here.

Violent earthquakes have wiped out the majority of historical monuments in the city. The Tabriz Citadel has remained standing, and is one of the most important monuments in the city.

The girls will then cross from Tabriz into Turkey, where they will head for Erzurum in eastern Anatolia, a city whose beginnings date back to 4000 BC. The city is 1757 metres above sea level, which leads to it having an extremly continental climate.

The next destination is Ankara, the capital of Turkey, which is the country's second largest city after Istanbul. Amongst other things, Ankara is famous for its long-haired goats, wool, honey, grapes and a unique breed of cat.

Next on the list comes the famous and historical Istanbul, an important marker for the girls as it is the gateway where east meets west.

Istanbul is one of the largest cities in Europe. It extends both on the European and Asian side of the Bosphorus strait, making it the only city in the world to be geographically situated on two continents.

Istanbul is home to a multitude of bars, restaurants, shops and bazaars, and has its own official Formula 1 Grand Prix Circuit, Istanbul Park.

From Istanbul, the girls will catch a ferry across to Igoumenitsa, a coastal and picturesque city in northwestern Greece.

They will continue until they have docked in Brindisi, a major ferry point and an ancient Italian city. The girls will then hit the road again and head for Bologna, regarded by some as the food capital of Italy.

And from Bologna, the girls will begin the final part of the journey, and head in a northwestern direction to their beloved France, where they will complete their journey by reaching their hometown of Paris.
