"I haven't been to the Dubai Tennis Championships before, but I have been to the Australian Open, Wimbledon and the French Open. You could say that I'm a hardened tennis fan. I'm most looking forward to seeing Mauresmo and Sharapova. Unfortunately we won't be here for the men's tennis games."
Favourite player: John McEnroe for his temper.
Dr Yasser Nassef, 39, an Egyptian resident of Dubai for the last five years, tells of his passion for ladies' tennis.

"I like tennis because it's like a personal challenge... you can win even if you are ranking behind."
Favourite player: Ana Ivanovic. "She plays in a good way, and she's smart."
