DSF lines up championships in falconry, shooting and Al Youla dancing.
The Fazza? Championship will be held for the fourth time during the Dubai Shopping Festival 2006. Held under the patronage of Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Chairman of Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Establishment for Young Business Leaders, the Falconry, Shooting and Al Youla championships will be held at different venues to celebrate the traditional sports of the United Arab Emirates.
Falconry
The Falconry Championship, which attracted 1,600 participants last year, will take place from January 17 to 19 at the Global Village, thanks to the support and encouragement by Shaikh Hamdan Bin Mohammad. This competition will pit the best falconers in the UAE against each other and also showcase the traditional Arab sport to international visitors. Competition categories are Alhraha1, Alshahin and Altbouaa.
Al Youla
This championship will test the energy and agility of Al Youla dancers, the traditional UAE dance that celebrates victory. It will be held at the Global Village throughout the shopping festival.
Sponsored by Al Tayer Motors, Al Habtoor Motors and Al Naboodah Automobile, the winners of all the categories will receive cars as prizes.
Shooting
UAE sharpshooters will make their mark from January 27 to 29 in Al Ruwia. With 1,850 competitors participating last year, organisers are expecting a higher number of participants this time.
