Dubai: More than sixty million dirhams were donated to the Dubai Cares campaign yesterday.
Dubai Properties, a member of Dubai Holding, announced a Dh60 million donation to the campaign launched in September by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, as a multimillion dirham initiative that aims to educate more than a million children in developing countries worldwide.
Shaikh Ahmad Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum received Kinana M. Jamaluddin, Dubai Representative of Sultan Al Bohra Mohammad Burhanudeen who donated Dh2.1 million.
Commenting on Dubai's tradition of philanthropy and its role in the current campaign, Jamaluddin said Dubai illustrates the true essence of Islam, underlining its teachings about helping those in need.
Meanwhile a charity gala dinner has been organised by Dubai Property Group next month. "The gala dinner reflects our commitment and support of causes directly pertaining to humanitarian issues. We plan to raise significant amounts of money through our members who have always shown their dedication," said Ahmad Al Matroushi, Chairman of DPG.
Shaikha Maitha Bint Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum will lead the Dubai Cares Walkathon which will be held tomorrow at 4pm at the Dubai Horse Race Track at Nad Al Shiba. This was announced by Dr Ahmad Al Sharif, Secretary General of the Dubai Sports Council (DSC) in a press conference held yesterday at the DSC premises.
