Dubai: Another Dh1 million was donated yesterday towards the Dubai Cares education initiative, bringing the total amount generated in just over three weeks to more than Dh819 million. Yesterday, Shaikh Maktoum Bin Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum received a cheque for Dh1 million from Khalid Bakhit, Managing Director of Universal Concrete Products (Unimix), to be given towards the drive. The initiative was launched on September 19 by His Highness Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, with the aim of putting one million children from developing countries through primary school.
"Shaikh Mohammad Bin Rashid Al Maktoum is a pioneering figure in charity work - he believes in the power of giving and in its ability to shape a better future for the needy. We are committed in our support to Dubai Cares, which is a source of pride for all of Dubai," Bakhit said. "The success of Dubai Cares is attributed to a number of factors, chief among them being the personal support of Shaikh Mohammad, whose leadership and involvement in the campaign serves as a philanthropic model for the whole world." Disney Symphony Meanwhile, the "Disney Symphony - the Magical Music of Walt Disney" concert will be held on Monday, October 15.
Proceeds from the sale of the concert tickets - priced at Dh150 for adults and Dh100 for children - will go towards Dubai Cares.
The concert will be held at 7pm at the Dubai Creek Park Amphitheatre.
