Dubai: Adrian Kerr has pronounced himself fit to lead the Arabian Gulf in the Emirates Airline Dubai Sevens later this week. The scrum-half was in severe doubt of missing the opening leg of the IRB World Series after being injured in the build-up to the Gulf's World Cup qualifier against China. But Kerr has battled back to fitness to claim a place in the true blue amateurs' 12-man squad and challenge for a place in the starting line-up for group games on Thursday against New Zealand, France and Canada. The Dubai Dragons player said: "Right from the start I said it was a four-to-six week job, and I've made it in four. I'm very happy. "I'm going to have to strap it up for the next three months and it's costing me a fortune in tape but that's fine."
Stephan Sphor, of Abu Dhabi, though has not been so lucky. He suffered a leg injury in the win over China and has failed to recover in time for the Sevens, his place going to clubmate David Clark. Arabian Gulf squad: Adrian Kerr (Dubai Dragons), Sebastian Mouchet (Dubai Dragons), Stephen Cooper (Dubai Exiles), Paul Austin (Dubai Dragons), Jonny Blackburn, Francois Coetzer (both Dubai Exiles), James Tometzki (Dubai Hurricanes), Dushan Raveendrakumar (Dubai Dragons), David Clark (Abu Dhabi), Sean Hurley, Jamie Turner, Amir Mohammad (all Dubai Dragons).
