Superheroes from around the world flew into Dubai for a special workshop this week. Created by Bobby Benitez, an illustrator from the city, nine giant heroes made an appearance at Al Ghurair City as part of the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) Global Surprises.
Children of all ages were invited to have their caricature face drawn onto their chosen superhero body at an art workshop which takes place every day from 5pm to 10pm until tomorrow.
Funniest things
Benitez said he was thoroughly enjoying working with the children as it made a change from his usual working day. The 31-year-old, originally from the Philippines, said: "This week has been a lot of fun. The children are so enthusiastic, and they come out with the funniest things. I have really enjoyed myself, and in my eight years as an illustrator, I have never laughed so much at work."
What they thought
Chris Fernandes, 10, attends the Gulf Indian High School in Dubai and made a special trip to Al Ghurair City for the DSS Superhero workshop.
He said: "I love superheroes because they are so cool. My favourite hero is Spiderman because he is so strong and clever. I also like Mr Incredible (pointing to his T-shirt which has the character plastered across the front). I am colouring Mazinger at the moment who is a superhero from Japan. I have enjoyed learning about other heroes from all over the world."
Excitement
Roshan John, 4, could hardly contain his excitement as a professional illustrator drew his caricature upon his chosen superhero body.
He said: "It looks so funny and it is making me laugh. I have enjoyed the colouring in and my favourite colour is yellow so that is why my superhero is mostly yellow."
Samantha Barreto, 11, from Our Own English High School, Dubai, said she had enjoyed the workshop so much she would like to have another go.
She said: "I chose Noora as my superhero because she looked so strong and cool. My favourite superhero is Spiderman because he is very strong, and I love the films and comics. I have seen them all."
