Knowing basic first aid can save lives. That's why it is so important to start learning the skills at an early age.
Members of Modhesh Friends Club were given just that opportunity as part of DSS and trained by experts from the Dubai Department of Health and Medical Services (DOHMS).
Up to 80 children learned how to deal with situations from slight burns and minor injuries to coping with broken bones and somebody choking in the hour-long workshop, led by Dr Hamad Yehia Hussain and Dr Nehad Hassan Mahdi.
Dr Hussain said: "Out of a deep conviction of the paramount importance of getting our children updated on common first aid techniques and preventive medical measures, the department, in cooperation with the Modhesh Friends Club, has launched a programme of action that involves a weekly interaction with the children where they are trained on simple first-aid techniques. "
Demonstration
The youngsters learned a variety of first-aid techniques before performing them in a live demonstration before an audience.
"Such practical experience helps them learn in the shortest possible period of time and boosts their confidence," added Dr Hussain.
