Dubai: Two students from Jeddah and Kuwait will be working with the DSS marketing department after bagging the summer apprenticeship programme.

Basma Mohammad Sabban of Dar Al Hekma College in Jeddah and Meshaal Sami Al Ali, of the American University of Kuwait, will be staying in Dubai for two weeks. Their stay at Kempinski will be sponsored by the Mall of the Emirates. They will help DSS organisers conceptualise events and activities for next year?s summer festival.

Evaluate

The two students were chosen after a competitive search that included interviews with a jury and a tough evaluation of their credentials and personal essays on the topic, "If you were the marketing manager of DSS 2007, what would you add to the event?"

Sabban suggested that coordinators in different GCC countries should help promote DSS. She also suggested that another character should join Modhesh to enhance visitor interest.

Revolution

"It's my first time visiting the event, after hearing much about it. It's a very successful event, but I wish it could also target teenagers and university students the way it targets children," she said, "Dubai is amazing. I have visited Dubai twice before, and each time, I found something new - whether it?s the architectural revolution, the real estate projects or the economical developments taking place," added Sabban, a 20-year-old financial management student.

Laila Suhail, DSS executive project director, said they established the apprenticeship programme to boost the regional appeal of DSS.
