Dubai: An amazing work of art carved in solid ice is being showcased at malls as part of the Ice Surprises Week organised by the Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (Dewa). Ice Surprises is the first themed week of the season surprise organised by Dewa. Throughout the week from June 21 to June 28 visitors are being greeted by a living statue in one of the popular shopping malls of Dubai.
The living statue is so called because it is actually a lady posing as a frozen statue, she comes to life and freezes again.
The show continues every 15 minutes from 5 to 10pm daily at various venues.
If you haven't already seen her at Al Bustan Centre, Ibn Battuta Mall, Al Ghurair City or the Mall of the Emirates then try catching her one day between 6 and 10pm at Deira City Centre on June 25, Mercato Mall on June 26, Hamarain Centre on June 27 and BurJuman on June 28. The event is an opportunity to see a lifeless block of ice taking different forms of life. The ice carved sculptures resemble artworks on crystal. To witness art taking shape in front of you, you can go to City Centre where several ice artists are competing daily between 6 and 9pm.
