Dubai: The exotic taste of international cuisine and mega prizes await residents and tourists as the Dubai Department of Tourism and Commerce Marketing (DTCM) prepares to host the week-long Food Surprises from July 6-12 as part of the mega summer retail extravaganza, the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS). A line-up of fun-filled programmes, food related events and opportunities to win prizes worth Dh1 million have been lined up by the DTCM at different shopping malls like the Mall of the Emirates, Ibn Battuta Mall, Bur Juman and the Deira City Centre to enthral one and all. "The Food Surprises will start with a grandiose opening ceremony at the Mall of the Emirates with high-tech sound, light, laser and an animated eight-minute cartoon show on international cuisine," said Marwan Bin Beyat, DTCM Manager Events.
The week-long programmes will feature a variety of new and innovative events highlighting a wide array of international cuisine and involving 24 hotels in the four and five-star category and 600 international professionals specialising in gourmet skills. Children being the major target group for the Food Surprises Week, will have a range of events to choose from including live cooking shows, junior chef competitions and distribution of chocolates and other goodies. Highlights will include City of Gold Display at the Mall of the Emirates where chefs will recreate the major tourist attractions of Dubai with the aid of Maggi cubes, interactive competitions about food involving children and adults and the Junior Chef Competition for kids by Abela at the Deira City Centre.
