Dubai Festival City gave Rio de Janeiro a run for its money as the Dubai Shopping Festival (DSF) carnival came to town.
More than 5,000 visitors flocked to the mall, to get caught up in the colour and action the daily carnival brings.
Vibrant costumes, colourful floats, dazzling dancers and spectacular singers created an atmosphere worthy of any of the world's famous carnivals.
Style
The proceedings began in style as visitors of all ages were asked to clap along to get a rhythmic beat for the parade to walk to. And then the excitement really began.
Led by a giant butterfly, the Festival City DSF Grand Carnival was an instant hit.
The musical parade got everyone in good spirits, while clowns, cartoon characters, mime artists and stilt dancers created an electric atmosphere.
A seemingly endless line of entertainers just kept pouring from the doors of the dressing room, met by a mass of bubbly children and their parents.
Ahmad Rama was visiting Dubai with his wife Alia and their two young children.
He said: "I have been utterly amazed by what we have seen here today. We are on holiday here from Oman and a man in our hotel told us to come and check it out. We expected a few jugglers or joke-tellers, not a professional production. It has been fantastic and we are very impressed and grateful."
Atmosphere
Tony Mina from Chemistry, an events company, said the carnival had been a huge success especially at the weekends.
He said: "The carnival seems to lift the whole atmosphere in the mall and gets everyone in a good mood."
And if the children's faces are anything to go by, then the proof is in the smiles. Youngsters of all ages literally light up when they see the carnival coming their way and it isn't long before they are following behind as members of the team dance and sing for them along the way.
Don't miss it!
The carnival takes place every day at Dubai Festival City from 7pm. It begins at the Festival Square in the main mall and winds its way around the streets and levels of the shopping centre.
