Head down to Global Village for a real taste of Saudi Arabia
Decorated with a unique mixture of Islamic and modern Arabic architectural styles, the Saudi pavilion at Global Village is focusing on promoting Saudi heritage as its main theme - giving visitors the impression that they have been ushered into Saudi Arabia itself rather than into a DSF pavilion.
Ebrahim Al Jabir, the Saudi Pavilion organiser, said, "Thanks to the traditional deep ties binding the two countries, the Saudi government always shows an unfailing commitment to its participation in the annual extravaganza.
Beacon
"The Global Village is an attraction during DSF and acts like a beacon inviting all nationalities to interact and enjoy a treasure trove of delights and cultures represented by Dubai during the big event," he said.
The 2,500 square-metre pavilion comprises 77 stores showcasing a wide spectrum of miscellaneous delights, including incense, Arabian perfumes, dates, traditional Saudi costumes, food and Arabian coffee.
"This year we have a special section for dates, antiques, silverware, and traditional Saudi clothes," said Al Jabir.
Huge demand
Pavilion vendor Ahmad Abdullah said, "There is a huge demand for the Saudi dates, specially the type called Al Khalas known for its exceptionally exquisite taste."
Another vendor remarked on the high turnout for this year's DSF event.
"The Global Village is enjoying a higher turnout year after year, securing people's trust across the DSF editions," said Saud Ali, a perfume shop owner.
