He is a performer par excellence and holds his audience spellbound. There is magic in his finger tips as he creates
remarkable beats on his tabla; there is mellifluous melody in every sound that emerges, for that is the sheer musical
spectrum of Ustaad Zakir Hussain, the unparalleled music maestro.
And Dubai waits in eager anticipation for the treat that he
is going to offer on January 31, at the Global Theatre in Global Village.
The show, titled “Heart Beat 07 — a Fusion Nite”, will be a musical extravaganza with several percussionists converging to make some great music. The fusion will be complete with stringed instruments — the sitar and the sarangi — alongside the percussion.
Song and dance
In addition, an all-woman band from Morocco will offer plenty of singing and dancing. The event is expected to be the biggest fusion night ever held in Dubai with the best from India, the United States and Morocco.
Other musicians involved are Trilok Gurtu on percussion, Eric Harland from USA on the drums, Dilshad Khan from India who will strum the sarangi and Niladri Kumar on the sitar.
