There were miles of smiles as Children's City celebrated DSF the young way! "This is the best day ever," shrieked six-year-old Leah Tomagatku as she was lifted from the saddle after her pony ride.
"I am having so much fun here, I never want to go home," she added.
A break from the norm of DSF, the only shopping to be done at Children's City was for a bag of candy floss or a can of Coke, a move which was certainly welcomed by the little people running excitedly around the park.
Favourite ride
Hana Larsdale, 8, said she was pleased the Dubai Shopping Festival had not forgotten the young people during the 45-day festival.
With a straw from a can of pop pursed firmly between her lips and hints of sugary candy floss stuck to her long fringe, she went on to tell me about her favourite ride at Children's City.
She said: "I love the bouncy climbing wall. It is great trying to get to the top of something so high without having to worry about falling off."
The giant structure stands more than 25 feet high and offers youngsters a chance to pick their way up the main body to flags at the top.
"I made it to the top on my third attempt as I kept slipping the first few times. But I eventually got up and then I got to jump from the very highest point which was a bit scary but lots of fun."
Picnics
Families enjoyed picnics on the grass while groups of boys and girls played football with the usual jumper-goals firmly in place.
Workshops took place from 4.30-8.30pm offering children from four to 15 the chance to make handicrafts as the sun went down.
Children busied themselves making sundials, hairclips, decorating candles and making nature picture frames.
Bouncy castles
Outside, the fun of the fair continued with screams from the bouncy castles. Children yelled to parents to come and watch as they took to the skies on the gravity bouncer and others stood and stroked the ponies and camels after enjoying a ride across the park.
Candy floss vendor Micky said he was very impressed with the friendly atmosphere at Children's City.
He said: "The children have been lots of fun and all of them seem in such great spirits."
