As youngsters most of us have dreams of being astronauts, doctors or dolphin trainers when we grow up. We dreamt of bright lights and big cities where the cash flows relentlessly.
But Murat Muturganchiki had one dream and one dream only — to run away and join the circus.
Only joining the circus meant heading home to daddy — one of Kazakhstan's most famous clowns — Karim the Great! That was at the age of 4 and now, 19 years later, Murat's dreams have all come true as he, his father and sister tour the globe as master clowns.
Huge smiles
The 23-year-old said: "My job couldn't be more perfect. I have everything — I get to dress up in funny clothes, hit the stage and make people laugh.
"I don't have to look at a computer screen all day, instead I look at people's happy faces and huge smiles. "Laughter makes the world go around, and I will never stop believing in it."
Murat, along with his father, Karim, and sister, Karima, were an instant hit as they took to the Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS) stage at the Ibn Battuta Mall's China Court.
And clowning around has certainly paid off for the family. Aged just 4 years, Murat claims he was the first ever "youngest clown" to make it onto the pages of the Guinness Book of World Records.
Proud
He said: "I was only young, and I didn't realise the enormity of the achievement until I was older, but I knew how much it meant to my father. He was very proud.
"The circus and being clowns is quite literally our lives as a family and we all get so much from what we do. We have toured with huge circuses and also do shows such as this one for DSS.
"Dubai is a wonderful place with sun, sand, sea and plenty of smiles — which makes our job even easier." The show, called Muturganchiki, will be performed at Ibn Battuta's China Court at 4pm today before moving to Mercato Mall tomorrow until July 18.
Murat and his family were also joined on stage by various acts from Russia, Ukraine and Serbia performing mime acts, Spanish dancing and puppet shows.
