Jaipur: Sri Lankan skipper Mahela Jayawardene is not willing to take the Pakistanis lightly. Though their opponents have been hit hard by the failed drugs test issue, Sri Lanka have promised not to give any quarter to win their first match.
Gulf News: Do you think your team will have an easy match?
Jayawardene: We will not take them lightly. In fact, it is in such situations that teams fight hard. Pakistan is as important as any other team.
Gulf News: What was your initial reaction when you heard Akhtar and Asif had been tested positive?
Jayawardene: It was disappointing. We were looking forward to the challenge of playing Shoaib Akhtar.
Gulf News: Are you happy with your team's progress in this tournament?
Jayawardene: Yes, we have progressed gradually. The guys have been working hard and playing aggressive cricket. The fact that we are consistent is a big advantage.
