Islamabad: The Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) has unveiled its own medical report of how its leader Benazir Bhutto was slain, saying the former prime minister's death was caused by laser beam shots.
Unveiling the medical report at a press conference here on Friday, PPP Senator Babar Awan disclosed that there was an open head injury with depressed skull fracture leading to cardiopulmonary arrest, The News reported yesterday.
"The X-ray reports suggested that there were two to three tiny radio densities under each fractured segments on both projections which were, in fact, invisible electromagnetic radiations. After these medical reports there was no need for further post-mortem or exhumation," Awan said.
Awan said there was an oval fracture on the skull visible in the X-ray that was part of the medical report.
Bhutto was killed on December 27 when she was driving away from Liaqat Bagh in Rawalpindi after addressing an election rally, almost two months after returning to Pakistan from eight years exile abroad.
Awan asked the government not to issue statements on autopsy and exhumation of Bhutto's body, as the medical report clearly proves her death was not caused by the lever of the sunroof of her vehicle as was stated by the interior ministry spokesman.
"We will provide this report only to the UN-sponsored commission as evidence," the newspaper quoted him as saying.
He said doctors Mussadiq Khan, Habib Ahmad Khan, Azra Yousuf, Aurangzeb Khan, Saeeda Yasmin, Qudsia Anjum Qureshi and Nasir Khan had signed the medical report.
Awan said if President Musharraf and the government had any moral courage they should request the United Nations to form an independent commission to investigate the assassination of Bhutto.
Meanwhile, a team of legal experts set up by the PPP has almost finalised a letter it is planning to send to the UN secretary-general requesting it to form an inquiry commission to investigate the assassination Bhutto, Dawn newspaper said.
