The leader of Al Qaida in Iraq, Abu Musab Al Zarqawi, has been killed according to an announcement by Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri Al Maliki on state television.Jordanian born Zarqawi has been a key figure in the brutal insurgency in Iraq which has claimed thousands of lives.
Will Zarqawi's death help the Iraqi government turn the corner in Iraq or will it make no difference? Will he just be replaced by another figure? Will the insurgency start to fade or grow stronger?

The killing of Zarqawi by American troops is not a big deal since I think there are probably thousands more like him in Iraq. If America wants to end the killing of innocent people by insurgents then America should move out from Iraq.

Zarqawi's should have been beheaded like he beheaded so many innocent people. This would have been a lesson to terrorists like him.

One can only pray and be hopeful that with these killings, other violence and nonsense will not happen in Iraq and in the region. It is true that US is bullying giant, but we should also take a look at the other side of the field and see what radicals such as Al Zarqawi and others have done for their people, except bring violence and instability in their countries and region. Therefore, we cannot either support the US or oppose it. It is time to put all these nonsensical thoughts aside, and realise that there is no better way ahead than peace and humanity.

Al Zarqawi's death marked a "great success", US Ambassador Zalmay Khalilzad said. However, he cautioned that it would not end violence in Iraq as Al Zarqawi's group still posed a threat to security. I think whoever takes his place will carry on the same activities in Europe and in Iraq. It might bring more violence.

This is sheer nonsense. The USA creates and kills whoever it wants. If they think they can fool us by saying that there is Al Qaida, then we say that there is USA. If they want to just create an atmosphere of goodwill, they are fooling themselves. As Mr Hugo Chavez, the president of Venezuela said, there is no other terrorist, but the one and only Bush. One can understand who is the insurgent and who is the terrorist in Iraq.
