Al Ain: The UAE will set up its own national aerobatics team soon, said a top official of the UAE Air Force here yesterday. Major General Pilot Khalid Bin Abdullah Mubarak Al Bouaynein, Commander of the UAE Air Force and Air Defence did not give further information on the plan. He said the Higher Organising Committee of Al Ain Aerobatic Show 2006 has been pleased with the large number of visitors that surpassed expectations. He said efforts will be on to develop the show and attract more visitors from the region and the entire world. Thousands of people crowd the grounds every day before the show to watch the mind-blowing displays. "Although we expected 20,000 visitors a day, we exceeded the number by 2pm every day," he said.
"This indicates the quality and reputation of the show, and we are very proud of the achievement, which would encourage us to do better and better in the next rounds," he said. Major General Al Bouaynein said the role of the UAE Air Force and Air Defence includes providing technical requirements of aircraft, guaranteeing safety for exhibitors and spectators, and the supervision on all technical details for the participating teams, in addition to taking part in the daily aerobatic displays.
