Al Ain: Remote-controlled aircraft staged a spectacular display on the first day of the Al Ain air show yesterday. The displays are a daily feature of the show. Rashed Al Mehairy, Manager of the UAE Radio Control Air Flying Team and Representative of the International Radio Control Air Flying Committee in the UAE, said the radio-controlled model aircraft displays were performed by world champions including Peter Michel. Many participants had brought advanced airplanes. Some helicopters are also being flown in the show. These models when flown look like real aircraft, said Al Mehairy. He said the UAE Radio Control Air Flying Team has recently been established, and occupies seventh place on the world level, after its participation in Hungary last July. The team is first at both the Asian and Arab levels.
