Boy dies in polio outbreak
A TWO year-old boy has died and his three- year-old brother is recovering in a Dubai hospital following an outbreak of polio in the Emirate.

Both were admitted to the Kuwaiti Hopital in Dubai last week within three days of each other. The two year old died less than a day after being admitted to hospital. Both children, sons of a UAE national, had been treated for a viral infection by intra-muscular injection but neither had been vaccinated against polio.
Minister disowns watch and pen smuggling son
THE CHIEF Minister of India's Haryana State has announced that he has disowned his 45-year-old son, accused of smuggling watches and pens into the country.
Devi Lal told a press conference that he has also recommended to Janata Party leaders that they seek the resignation of his son, Om Prakash, as General Secretary of the party's state organisation.
Rolling Stone sentenced
ROLLING STONE'S guitarist Keith Richards, who pleaded guilty to possession of heroin, was put on one year's probation and ordered to give a benefit performance for blind people in Canada.
Toronto Judge Lloyd Graburn said he decided against giving the 34-year-old rock star a jail term. The heroin conviction could have carried a maximum seven-year sentence. "The long-term benefit to the community entails the continuing treatment of yourself for your heroin addiction," the Judge said.
