UAE residents share their shopping plans as they prepare to kick back and take a well-earned break.

I have a family wedding to attend in the UK this August. I'm excited about going home for a break. From the DSS this summer, I will be on the look-out for some warmer clothes, as I know it will be colder back home. As I am going home for a wedding, I will also be treating myself to a new dress and some expensive shoes. I will be on the look-out for bargain accessories. I tend to buy perfume as gifts for family, as you can never have enough perfume and there are many to choose from here.

I am planning a long weekend in Cairo with my husband. I tend to use the DSS as an excuse to buy items for my holidays. I haven't had the chance to plan, but I need some new clothes and my husband will be buying a new suit for his sister's wedding this September. I know I will also have my eye on electrical goods, as my mum needs a new DVD player and my brother would like a Nintendo Wii. These items are generally cheaper here, so I will be able to take them home to Ireland in September.

This summer, I am going to the UK for a long weekend away, and then I'm spending a couple of weeks in Capri. Before I go, I have my eyes on a Missoni kaftan and some new sunglasses from Channel. My biggest indulgence will be the vintage car I am planning on hiring when I'm in the UK. Usually, I pick up perfume and beauty products from the airport to take as gifts to family and friends. I also like to go to the Souk Madinat and buy paintings by local artists.

I'm looking forward to a two-week break in Thailand this summer. For my holidays this year, I plan on buying some new summer dresses, a new pair of flip-flops and a lot of linen. I also want to buy a new bronzer from Christian Dior. My biggest extravagance would have to be the pair of designer sunglasses I bought the other week. I generally tend to take perfume and aftershave home as a gift for friends and family.

I am planning on going on holiday with a group of friends through Europe this summer. We will be visiting Italy, Germany, Austria, France and Switzerland. As a lot of the trip will be spent walking around and exploring, I will be looking for some comfortable shoes and clothing to wear. Italy will be hot, so flip flops and some summer dresses will do the trick. I am not returning home until Christmas this year, so it's a bit too early to think about gifts, but I will keep an eye out for some designer gifts at the Dubai Outlet Mall.

This summer I will be returning to Greece for a month, so most of my holiday purchases will be gifts for family as opposed to items for me. As it will be my first time home since I emigrated, I will be buying a lot of traditional souvenirs. I've already had three requests for shisha pipes and flavoured tobacco, while for the female members of my family I will be venturing to the malls to buy cashmere shawls. I may also buy some oud; I personally find it too strong but I think it's a nice memento from the UAE. I will also be taking home some spices.
