Arabic software is proving a major theme at this year's Gitex Shopper. The large number of titles also suggests a healthy Arabic software industry. Arabic users are particularly interested in software that instructs users how to better use everyday IT based office tools. Software that instructs users on how to get the most from Microsoft Office 2005 has sold in large numbers, according to traders. Ahmad Samir, representative of Unlimited Technology Group, said this type of software is popular in all Arab countries. "The software is detailed and precise, and acts as an educating tool where training is non-existent or too expensive." "It guides the user step by step, in Arabic, how to use tools and applications." The software includes an encyclopaedia, 20 CDs, 2,000 lessons and 150 hours of material, all relating to Microsoft Office Tools. New software to be launched soon will include lessons on how to learn how to use design and video applications. Further Arabic software available at exhibition stalls included ways on how to raise children, learn languages, road regulations, citations of the Holy Quran, in addition to various programs that cater to the needs for adults as well as children.
