The son of critically acclaimed writer Javed Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar made his directorial debut with Dil Chahta Hai, which, with its fresh take on urban life, went on to become a huge success.
Akhtar followed it up with Lakshya, which depicted Hrithik Roshan as representing the confused, aimless youth of today.
The young director went commercial with a remake of the classic Don, starring Shah Rukh Khan, and the film hit the jackpot at the box office.
In between these, he also played producer for the refreshing Honeymoon Travels Pvt Ltd.
And now, after dabbling in writing, directing and producing, he takes a plunge into acting — and singing — in Rock On. With more up his sleeve, there seems to be no stopping the talented Farhan Akhtar — which is great news for fans.
Favourite holiday destination: Goa
Though I have visited Goa many times, when I think of a holiday, it is Goa that comes to mind.
Goa has some amazingly beautiful beaches and exotic places to chill out.
One of the best ways to hang around in Goa is to rev up a bike — these are available on hire — and ride around.
Watching the sunset from the seashore is a remarkable experience. The place has a spirit of its own and is ideal for a vacation with family or friends.
Memorable moments in Goa
I shot some scenes in my first film, Dil Chahta Hai, in my favourite places in Goa.
When the film was released, all the places I captured became a craze and drove many to visit Goa — it was a nice feeling.
What not to do in Goa
I would say, stay away from the drugs scene. Drugs are not only injurious to health but spoil the atmosphere of the place.
Three must-haves on a holiday
My wife and two kids.
Any other favourite destination?
I love visiting Malaysia. This country has a lot to offer. In fact, I believe Malaysia is truly Asia.
