A tete-a-tete with a DJ ruling the turntables. This week: DJ Heidi.

I define my music as ... All things that get the booty shaking.

My most memorable gig ... At the Detroit Electronic Music Festival. It was like a homecoming party since I was performing in front of my family and friends. Further, Detroit is the hub for electronic music.

The worst moment in my DJing career ... None. My philosophy is to turn every bad situation on its head.

Ever since I branched out from running a record store in London to DJing, the ride has been challenging yet enjoyable
I am looking forward to, yet petrified of ... Performing in front of tens of thousands of people at the Exit Music festival in Serbia. Held in a 17th-century Petrovaradin fortress overlooking the Danube, in Serbia's second largest city Novi Sad, I will be rubbing shoulders with some of the greatest performers.

My advice to the aspiring DJs out there ... Gear up to facing criticism, develop a thick hide and learn to push oneself.

The song that I have on repeat mode these days ... I like sedate, quiet music when I am not on the turntables. I like the singer Catpower. She is out of this world.

About playing in Dubai tomorrow ...

I have never been to Dubai before this, so it's a first for me. I am looking forward to playing my current favourite Kaskazi by Simon Jamie John.

About The DJ: Heidi is currently working on an album for Get Physical with her partner Riton. She is also returning to Mexico and North and Central America for a huge tour with M.A.N.D.Y in the spring.
