A tete-a-tete with a DJ ruling the turn-tables. This week: DJ Desyn Masiello on his DJ Trio SOS.

Say hello to the DJ trio: Desyn Masiello , Demi and Omid 16 B. After having worked together for three years, these Londoners have proved with their latest 3-CD album Balance 13 that it often takes three to tango. This week, on the hot seat is Desyn Masiello.

What brought you to Dubai: The unique proposition of playing in the desert. When the promoters came up with the idea, we knew that when it came to experimenting with venues and music, it did not get better than this. With three of us on the turn-tables, it's more of a live jamming session than anything else.

The highpoint of his season: The release of Balance 13. It is a mix of sounds ranging from progressive house, rock, electro and tech electro.

What it is all about: It's an interesting blend of the old and new. There's room for the old (Inner City, Aphex Twin, LFO) and the new (Kollektiv Turmstrasse, Ink & Needle, Dusty Kid) as well. There's also cosmic discoists Aeroplane, Lindstrom and AN-2. Cocteau Twins, The Cure and Bryan Ferry have also jumped on board.

What is the strong point of your trio? After playing together for four years we have developed something akin to a telepathic connection. We are three artistes with varied tastes in music. But over the four years, our teething problems are a thing of the past and we have begun rubbing off on each other.

What next? We hate to plan ahead. For the time being, we are trying to make the best of our touring dates.
