Just because you can do something on the internet doesn't mean this thing has any practical reason. For an example of this, check out Lunarr.com.
The trick with Lunarr isn't figuring out how to use it — that part is incredibly simple — but what to use it for. Unlike most sites on the web, this one requires users to dig around and discover how it works. Basically, Lunarr allows users to collaborate on projects by sharing files, documents and websites via a minimalistic yet innovative interface.
After registering with the site, it presents users with a blank, white page that prompts you to either upload a file, load a website or create a new page. The only other option on the page is a "dog ear" in the upper right hand corner, which when clicked "flips" the page over to an area where users have the ability to notify others about the pages they've created.
Creating a page is simple too. Once users choose the option of uploading a file, they can see a preview of the document, provided it is in a format the site can read, such as text, Microsoft Word or an Adobe pdf. While previous versions of Lunarr allowed users to edit documents online, that feature has been removed. At the writing of this review anyone visiting a page can either view, download, or add additional files but little else. There is also the option to create versions on your "page", but the functionality of this isn't easily apparent.
The usability of loading a website is even more obscure. You can load multiple websites onto you page, and use those pages without ever leaving the Lunarr site.
However, one oddity of the site is that you can't mix and match websites with files, which would seem one way to make collaboration easier.
There are a few other minor features, such as the ability to track who visited the document, but true usability really isn't there. The site is more interesting for its interface, and since the site promises many new features in the future, it's one to watch.
