Dubai: Petrol stations will stop filling fuel for quad bikes and unregistered motorbikes as part of coordination with Dubai Police, a senior police official said.
Brigadier Mohammad Saif Al Zafein, Director of Dubai Police's Traffic Department, said the department held a coordination meeting with Emarat Corporation on the importance to stop filling fuel for quad bikes and unregistered motorbikes.
He said the stopping the supply of fuel for such vehicles will reduce accidents which involve motorbikes.
Brigadier Al Zafein said the society usually blames traffic police for those accidents, but the responsibility lies with parents in the first place because spoiling children and buying them bicycles or motorbikes, especially at a young age, could lead to negative consequences.
He pointed out to the importance of putting clear mechanisms to crack down on this problem. He also pointed out to the importance of the cooperation of petrol stations in Dubai with police to put an end to this issue.
Lieutenant Colonel Saif Al Mazroui, Acting Deputy Director of the department, told Gulf News that the department is carrying out intensive campaigns to crack down on quad bikes and unregistered bikes, as this problem is common during the summer vacation.
He said the campaign will focus on quad bikes which are not allowed to be ridden on the roads in addition to unregistered motorbikes.
