Occupied Jerusalem: The father of kidnapped Israeli soldier, Gilad Shalit, has expressed his anger over the Israeli government’s failure to guarantee his son’s release in the new truce with Hamas.
Noam Shalit has threatened legal action against the government for entering into the truce deal without assurance that Gilad will be returned safely.
Shalit contacted top officials and expressed his disappointment, adding that the government’s handling of the situation was a failure.
He urged the leaders to continue the economic siege of Gaza until his son’s fate is unknown.
Olmert’s inability to guarantee the return of abducted soldiers is not acceptable, Shalit said in an interview with Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
"That is not acceptable to me, and I don't think it is acceptable to anyone in this country."
Gilad is being held captive by Hamas fighters for two years.
