Dubai: Three people, including a five-year-old child, were burnt to death in a horrific car accident late on Friday night  on Al Wasl Road.

According to witnesses, the accident happened when the car carrying the child rammed into another vehicle while taking a U-turn near the Iranian Hospital.

Both the cars skidded several metres and caught fire due to the impact of the collision. The other victims were the driver of the first car and another passenger. Two people travelling in the other car sustained injuries.

Confirming the deaths, Dubai Traffic Public Prosecution Chief Salah Bu Farousha told Gulf News that initial inquiries showed the driver who died had caused the accident, and full investigations were on.

He suggested that traffic signals be fixed on all U-turns on Al Wasl Road because this was the second time in recent months that such an accident had happened. Three expatriates died in a similar accident involving a U-turn five months back.
