Abu Dhabi: Six nights of unique masterpieces in Arabic music will be held here from May 1-6.
The Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage (ADACH) will organise the "Sounds of Arabia" festival for the first time hosting talented musicians well-versed in the rich heritage of Arabic music.
Artistes performing in the festival are Omar Khairat, Al Fayha Choir, Furat Qaddouri, Tarek and Julia Banzi, Jahida Wehbe, Rida the Popular Arts Group, Nadia Mustafa and Fareeda.
ADACH aims to offer an eclectic mix of sounds and styles from a uniquely complex musical heritage and to turn this festival into an annual event.
It also hopes to ensure that the artistic calendar of every music lover in the Arab world includes this event in May.
The festival will offer insight into the cultural identities that constitute being an Arab in the present day.
In addition to concerts and lectures on musical history, the festival will also offer award-winning documentaries on Arabic music and musicians.
These films shed a different light on the social and cultural impact of music and the strength, courage, hope and inspiration it can lend to normal people's lives.
