Belgrade: Serbia’s caretaker government urged President Boris Tadic on Monday to bring forward parliamentary elections following the collapse of the government.
Serbian Prime Minister Vojislav Kostunica announced his resignation last Saturday, saying his government was no longer functioning because of disunity in the coalition.
The cabinet collapsed following an impasse over how Kosovo’s independence affected Serbia and it’s pursuit of membership to the EU.
Tadic has said he will accept the caretaker government’s proposal and an official announcement is expected shortly.
