London: Bilawal Bhutto Zardari has called for the media to respect his privacy while he continues his studies in the United Kingdom.
The 19-year-old son of assassinated opposition leader Benazir Bhutto made the plea just over a week after being named as co-chairman of her Pakistan People’s Party.
He told reporters that his father Asif Ali Zardari would be in charge of the party affairs while he completed his degree at Oxford, and conceded that his political “experience is limited”.
Bilawal, who lives in Dubai when he is not at Oxford, said he was taking over because politics was in his blood.
But he criticized the media for intruding into his privacy, including trying to take snippets from his supposed Facebook accounts and pleaded “When I am at Oxford I hope I can be left alone."
Speaking at the press conference, Bilawal also told reporters that there needed to be a United Nations inquiry into the killing of his mother because he didn’t believe any investigation carried out by Pakistan would be transparent enough.
