Dubai: The Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will not waive Salik fines for all, Gulf News has learnt.

The RTA has revised its earlier decision of not issuing penalties to any of the violators of the toll system.

"Fines will be waived for only those motorists who are registered with toll system but those, who are not registered at all for Salik and have been using Salik gates will definitely get fines," said Salah Al Marzouqi, Director of Intelligent Traffic System at the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority (RTA).

The RTA announced on Saturday that motorists will not get fines for violating the toll system in Dubai for the first four months from July 1 to October 31.

Not for companies

However, Al Marzouqi told Gulf News that the waiver is only for individual car owners and not for companies.

He, however, said fines for motorbike users, registered or not registered, will be waived until December 31. He made it clear that registered motorists, who have already paid Salik fines, can claim their money by filling a form available at the Licence and Registration Centres of the RTA.

"There is no problem with the system but we are lenient on issuing fines because some motorists did not provide correct data."
