Moscow: Iran's top nuclear negotiator met with Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday, a day after a US report said that Tehran has stopped its nuclear programme.

Iranian chief nuclear negotiator Saeed Jalili was visiting Moscow following a meeting of world powers in Paris that  discussed further possible sanctions against Tehran.

Russia, a permanent member of the UN Security Council, says there is no evidence that
Iran has sought to develop nuclear arms.

Russian newspaper reports suggested Moscow would seek to persuade Jalili of the need to make concessions to the world community.

Jalili, echoing the views of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, has vowed Iran will not retreat from its nuclear plans.
