Washington: In his latest audio message, Al Qaida leader Osama Bin Laden called on Europeans to leave Afghanistan, accusing NATO troops of killing women and children.
Al Jazeera television aired the recording on Thursday, three days after Al Qaida promised a new message from the world's most-wanted terrorist.
"In this war, you didn't respect the rules of war," Bin Laden said. "The majority of the victims of your bombardments were women and children. You targeted them and killed them on purpose.”
The authenticity of the tape could not be immediately verified although a US counterterrorism official said that analysis indicates the voice is Bin Laden's.
Bin Laden also reiterated responsibility for the deadly September 11, 2001 attacks on New York and Washington.
He warned US allies that US troops will soon "go back to their homelands…and they will leave the neighbours to finish off their interests among themselves."
