Sharjah: The Sharjah Museums Department is celebrating the 36th anniversary of UAE National Day by holding celebrations from November 27 to January 3 at Sharjah Heritage Museum, Al Muraija area. The museum will display a UAE traditional dress and costume exhibition, the history of the formation of the UAE in a photography exhibition, and a performance by a military band. Other activities include a traditional wedding show, a folklore dance, and a number of fun-filled workshops for families. Various museums will also participate in a month-long programme of activities to celebrate UAE culture and heritage.
Event: Association to hold evening of poetry
Dubai Pakistan Association Ladies Wing will hold an evening of Urdu Poetry 'Shaam-e-Shairat' to celebrate UAE National Day. Some prominent poetesses from Pakistan include: Kishwar Naheed, Sarwat Mohiuddin, Shahida Hassan, Fatima Hassan, Rehana Rohi and Rukhsana Saba will recite their poetry at the function. Some UAE based poetesses including Mariam Behnam, Sabiha Saba, Tasneem Abidi, Sarwat Zehra, Faiza Fiza and Farzana Sehab Mirza will participate in the evening by reciting their favourite collection of poetry.
Recognition: Dubai police receive certificate of membership
Dubai: Dubai Police have received a certificate of membership for their police dogs department, which has become a member of the International Rescue Organisation. The certificate was presented to Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim who praised the efforts of the police dogs department for their achievements and the rescue missions both within the country and abroad. The police chief said the police is keen on participating in local, regional and international symposiums and conferences and joining international organisations to learn from the experiences of others.
National Day: Securities markets to close for two days
Abu Dhabi: The Emirates Securities and Commodities Authority (ESCA) has announced that the securities markets will remain closed on Sunday and Monday, December 2 and 3, to mark the 36th anniversary of UAE National Day. The Dubai Financial Market (DFM) will also remain closed on December 2 and 3 to mark the UAE's 36th National Day. Work in both ESCA and DFM will be resumed on Tuesday, December 4.
RAK: Shisha banned in public areas
Ras Al Khaimah: The Municipality yesterday banned shisha smoking in all public facilities including public parks and on the corniche. Mubarak Ali Al Shamsi, Director-General of RAK Municipality, said shisha will only be served in cafes that have originally been licensed for this purpose. RAK Municipality registered scores of complaints from the public about the spread of shisha smoking in public places, such as on the corniche. Al Shamsi said the Municipality issued an order banning the smoking of shisha in all the emirate's facilities. Al Shamsi warned tough penalties would be imposed on violators.
