Dubai: From dragging tires along the beach in 45 degree heat to pulling a 100-kilogram sledge in minus 45 cold, a Dubai based explorer is preparing for his next extreme challenge of walking more than 1,000 kilometres to the South Pole.
After successfully reaching the North Pole on foot and climbing Mount Everest, Briton Adrian Hayes is now getting ready to trek to the South Pole by January 2008 to complete a three poles trilogy.
Hayes will start his trek across Antarctica next month and depart from Dubai on November 2. If he succeeds, he will be the fifteenth person in the world to have achieved the three poles and the second Briton.
Previously he climbed the summit of Mount Everest in April 2006 and walked to the North Pole a year later in April 2007. Achieving his walk to the South Pole in the time expected will make him the fastest person to achieve the three poles of the earth in 19 months.
