Abu Dhabi: Police are set to auction 100 special number plates on October 27.
All the proceeds will go to charity, and the main attraction of the day will be plate number 10.
Lieutenant Colonel Abdul Rahman Al Kamali, the Director of the Privatisation and Financial Investments Department at Abu Dhabi Police said that the money raised in the auction would go towards helping those with special needs as well as traffic accident victims.
The auction is organised by Emirates Auctions, a company established in 2005 by a group of young Emiratis, who specialise in different types of auctions. This is the third auction being organised this year by them.
The proceeds of the first auction exceeded Dh76 million. And plate number 5 became the world's most expensive number after it fetched Dh25.2 million.
Prior registration for the auction can be done from October 25 at Emirates Palace.
In order to participate in the auction, one needs to present a personal identification card issued by a government organisation or pay a refundable security deposit of Dh1,000 or pay a non-refundable entry fee of Dh50. Special designated areas have been arranged for women participants.
