Dubai: Nawaz Sharif, the chief of the Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) and former prime minister of Pakistan, has ruled out the possibility of any deal with the government for his return from exile.

"We are not into 'deals' because we have a one point agenda to save the country from a military ruler who has ruined our country," Sharif told a huge gathering at Dubai International Airport last night upon his arrival from London.

He was surrounded by hundreds of people as he came out of the arrivals lounge and it took him at least 20 minutes to reach his car. Everyone wanted to shake hands with him and listen to his point of view.

He did not disappoint them.

Congratulations

Standing on a bench in Terminal One, he said: "I congratulate you for your struggle because the time has come to make a decision and throw out dictators from power. My heart aches to see my country passing through the worst conditions ever. But I will not disappoint you."

The crowd responded by chanting slogans such as "Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, and "Nawaz Sharif Zindabad."

"We will stick to our stand and not make a deal for 'personal gains," Sharif added while hinting at a deal between President Musharraf and Pakistan People's Party Chairperson Benazir Bhutto.

"I will go back for my people to save my country and not for power," he said.

PML (N) leaders in the UAE, including Chaudhry Noorul Hassan Tanver, Chaudhry Altan, Shaikh Arif, Ghulam Mustafa Mughal and many others greeted him at the airport. Sharif was accompanied by his wife Kulsoom Nawaz and son Hassan Nawaz.

During his stay in Dubai, he is expected to have a series of important political meetings with senior party leaders, including Javed Hashmi, who was recently released by the Supreme Court.
