Abu Dhabi: Under the new security measures that start on June 30 passengers are advised to put in their checked luggage all liquid, aerosol and gel products not required during their flight.
The new regulations will take effect nationwide.
Liquids, aerosols and gels required during the flight should be packed in accordance with the new restrictions before passengers arrive at the airport, according to a press release.
The liquids, aerosols and gels must be in 100 ml containers and should be packed in a transparent re-sealable plastic bag.
Re-sealable plastic bags
Each passenger is allowed to carry only one transparent re-sealable plastic bag, which must be presented separately for screening.
Exemptions will be made for medications, baby food and special dietary items.
Passengers are advised to check in at least three hours before departure.
'Airport ambassadors' will be deployed in Terminal 2 to assist passengers.
"Information panels will also be set up in various locations, such as the departure check-in hall and screening points, to inform and remind passengers of the new restrictions.
"Pamphlets on the new restrictions will also be available and regular announcements on the new measures will be made.
"Tables will also be set up for passengers who may need to re-pack their belongings," said an airport press release.
Passengers can continue to buy liquids, aerosols, gels, liquor and perfumes at Abu Dhabi International Airport Terminal 2.
Only passengers who will be transiting or transferring at other airports will have their liquid, aerosol and gel purchases packed in sealed tamper-evident bags by the shops, with the receipt clearly displayed in the sealed bags.
Passengers with queries on what purchases can be taken to their destinations or onto their connecting flights at another airport may seek assistance from shop staff.
