Dubai: The number plate F1000 was sold for Dh830,000 at an auction held by the Dubai Roads and Transport Authority yesterday. More than 100 prestigious number plates were auctioned, raising a total of Dh16.564 million. Yesterday's event, held at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel, saw three-, four- and five-digit plates go under the hammer. More than 350 bidders went to the auction, which was attended by Ali Mohammad Al Jasim, director of the Traffic and Roads Agency's Licensing Department, along with RTA directors, officials and guests.
New measures to reduce crime
Dubai: The Chief of Dubai Police ordered the formation of a security team from Naif Police Station to reduce crime. Lieutenant General Dahi Khalfan Tamim stressed the importance of speeding up public transactions and simplifying procedures by using the latest technology. Lieutenant General Dahi inspected Naif Police Station and called on officers to draw from previous experiences. According to statistics, the station reported 1,482 criminal cases in the first quarter of this year compared to 1,430 cases in 2006. Thefts declined from 222 in 2006 to 148 this year.
