Dubai: Children from the Dubai Autism Centre spent the day at Creekside Park for the annual Open Day which involved a Mickey Mouse parade and show, games and drawings, workshops and face painting, and of course a lot of fun.
Now in its third year, the Open Day has gained popularity and more parents are bringing their children to take part and mingle with children their own age without feeling embarrassed, according to Sara Baker, Dubai Autism Centre Community Service Unit coordinator.
About 170 people attended the event yesterday. Baker said facilities in Dubai were becoming more open to cater to children with special needs.
